ABOUT
Tinka Avramova (1994) is an American/Bulgarian theatre director, dramaturg, choreographer, and performer currently based in Prague. She earned her Master’s in Directing for Devised and Object Theatre in the Department for Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU. Her creative works are rooted in experimentation and risk-taking on stage, celebrating the unpredictable nature of live performance.
In each of her works, Tinka explores the dynamic interplay between set and choreographed material and improvisation. This approach places these elements in dialogue, embracing the inherent chaos and failure that arise from such unstable and unknown situations. She views these moments as opportunities for the most intriguing discoveries in performance. She is particularly interested in uncovering the "authentic self" on stage through task-based prompts, fostering an intimate and honest relationship between the performer and the audience. Her passion lies in crafting transformative experiences for both performers and audiences alike.
Currently, Tinka is a pedagog at DAMU teaching both Dramaturgy, Devising and Stage Presence for the international Master’s Programme. Additionally, she is a part-time lecturer and gives workshops for the Czech Bachelor’s Programme.
